NASA Just Put A Picture Of The India Pak Border And It’ll Make You Realise Just How Close We Actually Are! - http://goo.gl/HPQaAX Nasa shared a stunning photograph of the international border between India and Pakistan as seen from outer space on their Facebook page. “An astronaut aboard the International Space Station took this nighttime panorama while looking north across Pakistan’s Indus River valley. The port city of Karachi is the bright cluster of lights facing the Arabian Sea, which appears completely black. City lights and the dark color of dense agriculture closely track with the great curves of the Indus valley. For scale, the distance from Karachi to the foothills of the Himalaya Mountains is 1,160 kilometers (720 miles).” NASA wrote explaining the picture. An astronaut aboard the International Space Station took this nighttime panorama while looking north across Pakistan’s Indus River valley. The photo was taken on September 23 with a Nikon D4 digital camera using a 28 millimetre lens. The photograph shows one of the few places on Earth where an international boundary can be seen at night. The winding border between Pakistan and India is lit by security lights that have a distinct orange tone. Another photo, which was shared by Nasa in 2011, shows the border zone looking southeast from the Himalaya. Now Africa is the only region with any significant blocks of the older version 4 internet addresses available.” A British networking company that supplies schools has done an analysis on how concerned IT managers should be. This comes almost exactly 3 years after Europe ran out. The system can support up to 4.3 billion addresses but the massive growth of the online world has swiftly depleted this. The successor addressing system, known as IPv6, can handle a vast amount of addresses and is unlikely to ever run out. IPv6 has been available since 1999 but only now are large numbers of firms starting to use it. Just like people, in order for computers to talk to each other they must understand the same language or protocol. For the past 32 years, the protocol used on the internet has been Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). IPv4 allows for about 3.7 billion computers to exist on the internet, each with a unique address. This seems like a lot of computers, but over that time the internet has gone from a few computers in a few universities to almost every home, office and school. At the same time, rather than a family owning at most one computer, each person now owns several internet connected devices - its common for one person to own a laptop, smart phone, tablet and smart TV. Whilst you may think an internet connected kettle is a stupid idea, the “Internet of Things” is poised to take off and that will only increase the number of devices connected to the internet. Over the years, policy changes such as Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) have been employed to conserve addresses. And network address translation (NAT) has extended the number of devices that can be connected by allowing internal networks to reuse addresses. Estimates for the number of devices currently connected to the internet vary wildly from around 5 billion to 18 billion, with some forecasts suggesting that there will be as many as 25-75 billion internet connected devices in five years time. Some 17 years ago, Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) was designed as a successor to IPv4. The IP address shortage had been foreseen and the new protocol was designed to be capable of supporting an almost unimaginable number of connected devices. The designers also learnt lessons from the existing protocols and used the opportunity to fix a few things that IPv4 got wrong and add a few enhancements. However, IPv6 and IPv4 are not compatible. A computer on an IPv4-only network cannot communicate with a server on an IPv6-only network. So the entire internet needs to upgrade. This has been gradually happening for well over a decade, already. The most likely setup in the future will be for most networks to use both IPv4 and IPv6 concurrently, known as “dual stacking”. The IPv4 addresses will often be hidden behind CGNAT systems, with reduced functionality, and be used to access remaining IPv4-only services. The IPv6 addresses will be used in preference wherever possible. Eventually, the cost of maintaining legacy IPv4 systems will outweigh the benefit of any remaining IPv4-only services. But this isn’t likely to happen for decades - IPv4 will be around for a long time to come. While some companies, such as Google, have already switched to the new protocol, not all have done so. Continuing to adopt the ostrich approach, though, will not be an option for much longer. The survey was conducted by asking human resources managers about salary scales at each company. The figures don’t take into account purchasing power parity – the principle that the same number of dollars can buy different amounts in different countries – but the findings could still mean tech companies are tempted to move more jobs to India. The survey compared the total annual cash compensation and total remuneration information of the mid-career level for IT staff at 9,413 companies across 40 different countries between August 1 to August 31, 2015. How Many Countries, The Indian Passport Will Let You Travel To, Without A Visa - http://goo.gl/dWaz27 According to the Arton Capital report, Indian passport holders can travel to countries including Bhutan, Jamaica, Ecuador and South Korea without having to obtain a visa. The Passport Index firm published a report on it’s website ranking the passports of all the countries in the world on the basis of their power. As per Passport Index’s norms, a country got a score for countries where the passport holders can travel without a visa or can get a visa on arrival. The United States of America (USA) and United Kingdom (UK) topped the list with 147 visa free countries. India ranked 59 with 59 countries and shared the place with Georgia. Power of Passport Simply the number of countries it allows you to travel to, without a visa. An American or a UK passport lets you enter 147 countries without a visa - at best, you’ll automatically get a Visa on Arrival. This is how the firm’s Passport Index website has ranked passports based on a ‘Visa Free Score’. Power of Indian Passport Indian passport holders can only travel to 59 countries without visa/visa on arrival. We’re beaten by the likes of Sierra Leone, Namibia and Nicaragua. But hey, we’ve beaten Pakistan and Bangladesh, at 71 and 67 respectively. Here is the list of Countries that issue visa on arrival to Indian citizens: Bolivia – 90 days Burundi – 30 days; obtainable at Bujumbura International Airport Cambodia – 30 days Cape Verde Comoros Djibouti Ethiopia Guinea-Bissau – 90 days Guyana – 30 days provided holding confirmation, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs Indonesia – 30 days Jordan – 2 weeks, must hold US$ 3000 Kenya – 3 months Laos – 30 days Madagascar – 90 days Maldives – 90 days Nauru Palau – 30 days Saint Lucia – 6 weeks Samoa – 60 days Seychelles – 1 month Somalia- 30 days, provided an invitation letter issued by the sponsor has been submitted to the Airport Immigration Department at least 2 days before arrival.
